John Crocker Ex SoLE UK District Director |

This year's Symposium was again held at Woodbury Park, the home of the former world champion racing driver, Nigel Mansell. It was well attended with almost all delegates staying the full 3 days. During the conference we heard some excellent papers from a truly international audience and, for the first time, each of the exhibitors was given a 30 min slot in which to say something about their products and services. |

Grand Fellow Polly Vacher gave an extremely interesting and enlightening talk about her Voyage to the Ice during which she became the first woman to fly solo ina single engine light aircraft over the North Pole, over Antarctica and around the world via all seven continents. It was a truly amazing feat for anyone, let alone a lady about to become a grandmother. She covered a total distance of over 60,000 miles (100,000 Km) and took 7 days short of a year. You can read all about the research and technical details that went into the flight in "B2B/A+A: Polly Vacher's Voyage to the Ice, 2003-04", J. Knezevic, 2004 obtainable from the publishers, Mirce Science, www.mirce.com |
